And to make things worse, there isn’t a straightforward way Tesla can avoid this problem due to the EV maker’s direct-to-consumer sales approach. The price cuts are wonderful for people planning to buy these vehicles however, for anyone who just took delivery of a new Model S or X, this move by Tesla undoubtedly leaves a sour taste in their mouth as their vehicle value just went down 20% to 25% in just a couple of weeks.įor a while now these price fluctuations have been one of the more reasonable criticisms regarding the EV maker. Both variants of the Model S also saw a similarly significant price cut going as much as a $30,000 cut for the Model S Plaid. The Model X Plaid saw its price cut from $142,000 to $115,500. Tesla also made similar price adjustments in China, however, unlike in the US, this is the second time in as many weeks that Tesla has cut Model S & X prices in the country.
